The Dreamtime natural laws identifies each landscape element with a song and every animal and living thing with a totem. Based on these principals, The Dreamtime ancestors created every element of nature with a song.
Every rock, escarpment, mountain or any other physical feature of the landscape is unique and has it's own song. One interesting fact is that an Aboriginal person from parts of Australia unknown to another, can still identify the unique song that is being sung! (Bruce Chatwin - Songlines; see reading list)
Animals in the environment are totems that each tribe associates with. It is strictly taboo for those of others tribes to associate with totem animals which are incompatible.
